Around 50 Satpol PP personnel tore down 45 illegal buildings standing on the edge of Sekretaris River, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, Wednesday (4/15). Although it is getting protest from local citizens, the demolishment that takes place at RT 006/01, Tanjung Duren Utara Urban Village, Grogol, went smoothly.

The existence of the buildings has made the land dirty and slum

Grogol Petamburan Sub-District Head, Deny Ramdany expressed the demolishment is done because many buildings stood atop drains. The land is planned to be used as a park.

“The existence of the buildings has made the land dirty and slum,” he exclaimed, Wednesday (4/15).

Marsinah (56), one of citizens who owned the building requested compensation from the government to return to her hometown. "I want the compensation to return to my hometown," she requested.
